Show Summary

At the top of the show, Adam tells Bryan and Gina about his first reactions to meeting Michael Mann. He also recalls sitting next to Spike Lee on a cross-country flight, who was working on a conspiracy documentary at the time. Adam then shares his thoughts on parenting, and producer Chris tells a story of his own estranged father reaching out to him. Later, Lynette Carolla is in studio as Adam rants about the kids getting too many days off of school. They also talk about the upcoming Carolla Drinks Family BBQ and everyone plays a round of the Rotten Tomatoes Game. Gina also does an abridged news segment about updates on the bizarre Jussie Smollett story, and Ja Rule’s thoughts on attempting the Fyre Fest again.

Adam then welcomes Michael Mann to the studio. The guys talk about his film, ‘Manhunter’, as well as the new book ‘Hunting LeRoux’. They go on to discuss how much more sophisticated organized crime has become, and Michael talks more about the depravity of criminal mastermind Paul LeRoux. Michael also chats about his attraction to darker characters, and the guys continue their conversation with investigative journalist Elaine Shannon. Elaine talks about her long working relationship with Michael, and explains why she became interested in Paul LeRoux in the first place. Other topics of conversation include the eventual arrest of LeRoux, how covert operation teams are the real heroes, and the new world of virtual network criminals. As the conversation wraps up, Adam asks Michael about the upcoming movie version of this incredible story, what his creative process is like on a day-to-day basis, and their shared love of racing.
